Andrew Thortons Water & Fire Challenge

When Andrew Thorton posted the challenge for the Water & Fire kits, I knew I wanted in. I received the Fire Kit and really had a lot of fun with it. My first set I used the neat pendant that Andrew created and really love the pretty oranges, reds and yellows that I put with it.

My second necklace I created the pendant out of stained glass to go with the bead chips. I also incorporated some of the waxed linen thread into this too for my dangle.

My third necklace was inspired by a video I watched this week so added a little copper with my beads.
My next set I used more of the clear beads and added some copper chain.

I was determined to use as much of the kit as I could so finished with a bunch of earrings.

Lastly is my box of leftovers, it’s really hard to use up a whole kit but I tried. Thanks Andrew and William for great kits and challenges.

My partner for the Bead Soup Blog Hop

My partner for the Bead Soup Blog hop is the wonderful Rachel Mallis. She is so nice and sent me the most wonderful soup to play with. I wish I had more time to use everything up that she sent me but life has just been crazy here. I took time to make myself a beautiful necklace and then I was inspired to use the wood chain that she sent me and pair it with something that my son made me a few years ago but I never knew quite what to do with it but thought it would be perfect now. I didn’t think of it soon enough but I want to find a royal blue sari ribbon to run through the chain but since I don’t have that color in my stash I need to order some but ran out of time. I used what I had to give you an idea of what I want to do. I still have some beads left for a few things when I have more time. Rachel also shared some leaves with me that her Grandmother made out of tiny beads. I’m just going to hoard these as they look too fragile to use.  Thank you Rachel for being such a wonderful partner and for the great soup that was so neatly wrapped along with a great letter explaining everything.

Thank you also to Lori Anderson for hosting this hop again, you still put on the best hops. Here’s the link to the rest of the participants.

Now for the pictures of what I made.

Get Ready For the Bead Soup Blog Party

I decided to join Lori Andersons blog hop this year again. She is doing it a little differently this year in that we had to send our partner a bead that we had hoarded. I thought that should be easy but after I picked the bead I was going to send and put my soup together I kind of wanted to make something myself but I decided to send it anyway. It’s not like I don’t have a couple more hoarded beads around.

Snowman card

I made my card with Vera Lane Images and then added some snow that is supposed to be used on florals but it works here too. I high lighted with a bit of Wink of Stella.image

Another Embossing Technique

I inked up my embossing folder with Versa Mark and the ink is where all the little hearts are indented. I sprinkled on my gold glitter embossing powder and then heated. I also used the same embossing powder to make the matching brads and also the oval behind my sentiment. The gold at the top is some ribbon that matched perfectly.image

More Flowers

I wanted to try a different arrangement for my flowers. I also embossed the border under the flower mat.image

Glueing Embossing Powder

Fun card to make. I mixed my gold embossing powders and glitter together and used a sticker sheet on the top to hold the embossing powder.  More

Day 3 Batik Card

This was fun to make but when I ironed off the embossing powder it seemed like it took a long time.image

Day 3 Online Card Class

I used a cereal box to make my industrial stars. Big hugs is fun foam.image
